Oculus Rift S VR Headset coming to South Africa

Oculus today announced that they will be upgrading their Oculus Rift virtual reality headsets to the Oculus Rift S. The Oculus Rift S will offer a higher display resolution at 1,280 × 1,440 per eye (2,560 × 1,440 total). This is a big improvement on the Oculus Rift and will make Virtual Reality even more immersive. According to Oculus they have reduced the Screen door effect quite significantly with the new Oculus Rift S VR headset.

The Oculus Rift uses Insight tracking, which is inside out tracking, abandoning the need for external cameras to create a six degrees of freedom virtual reality experience. This is a huge improvement and will make setting up the Oculus Rift S much easier than its predecessor. All in all, we are very excited about the latest technology improvement and we plan to purchase several Oculus Rift S units for our South African operations as soon as it becomes commercially available.

The Oculus Rift S is a game changer for 6 DOF Virtual Reality headsets!
